Celtics Guard Locks in Long-Term Future with Massive Deal

Milwaukee Bucks guard Jrue Holiday has agreed to a four-year, $134 million contract extension with the Boston Celtics, securing his future in the NBA's Eastern Conference powerhouse.

The deal, which was first reported by ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, includes $134 million in guaranteed money and an average annual salary of $33.6 million. Holiday, who was set to become a free agent after the 2023-24 season, has opted to stay with the Celtics long-term.

Holiday's contract extension is the latest in a series of moves by the Celtics to bolster their roster and compete for an NBA championship. After acquiring Holiday in a blockbuster trade with the Milwaukee Bucks last summer, the Celtics made a significant commitment to the 33-year-old guard.

Holiday, who was named an All-Star in 2021, has been a key contributor for the Celtics this season, averaging 19.6 points, 6.8 assists, and 4.9 rebounds per game. His leadership and defensive prowess have been instrumental in the Celtics' success, and he is considered one of the best two-way guards in the NBA.

With Holiday under contract for the next four years, the Celtics have secured the services of one of their most important players and signaled their intent to remain competitive in the Eastern Conference for years to come.
